So, I was just curious and picked one up (Game & Watch SMB). I'll be honest: it's the novelty of the form factor that made me want this. Instead of spending $50 for dinner, I got this and made grilled cheese and tomato soup for the kids.
Game & Watch SMB I was hoping the build quality would be worthy of the $50 price... but it's not as hefty/solid as I thought it would be. The screen is OK, but, again, I thought it would be a tad nicer. Notice a trend? Direction pad/buttons seem OK. Passable. For reference, the build quality of the NES/SNES mini (especially the controllers) was quite nice, so I don't think I had unrealistic expectations.
Despite all this, I am having a lot of fun playing SMB 2. I haven't played it in 30 years (SNES version), and, to be honest, I love playing it on this tiny screen. It's silly, but, whatever, I enjoy it. I probably will try to figure out how to play the Famicom at some point... but don't hold your breath (I think I have N8 Everdrive somewhere).
VERDICT: Don't buy Game & Watch SMB if you are frugal.

I think it looks interesting, but I don't see myself playing it much, especially not with the Switch NES Online service making such things already available as a handheld. That said, if my son were a couple years older I could see getting something like this for him.

I told them that my favorite LCD games from the early to mid-80's were the racing and shootemup games... much more depth and fun than "Ball").
