Hello everybody! I've very recently entered the world of PC-Engine, and I thought to sing up to the forum to gain a bit of experience of this world! So, my problem is the following: I bought an Interface Unit. it was in good cosmetic condition but very dirty, so I wanted to deep clean the whole thing.
Every piece removed just fine, but the upper white part (where the PC-Engine and the CD-Rom Unit slots) and the lower light grey part (the bottom of the unit, where the little handle slots away) just wont come apart. I've unscrewed every screw and tried to gently pry the two halves apart, in the case of little plastic tabs, but to no avail. I thought it would be easy. Since there's a wire coming out from the space between the two pieces (probably connected to the locking mechanism on the front) it must be possible to open it, for repair purposes, but i really don't know.
I stopped trying since I don't want to crack the plastic or ruin the Interface Unit in other ways, but I have to know: is it possible to disassembly those parts? Are they glued thogether? And if it's possible, how do I do it?
Maybe it's a newbie problem, but I don't know what to do anymore!
Thanks in advance,
Dario

Yes they come apart. Removing all the screws from the bottom should let everything come apart. You might have to pull up on the white portion hard. There were two kind of IFU casings. One was held together with just screws and the 2nd uses screws plus is kind of snapped into the gray part underneath.

Thanks a lot for the tip, I was able to disassemble the Inteface Unit! My interface has the the screws and the tabs too, so a bit of persuasion was needed
Forgive my delay in replying and thanks again!

...only if you forgive me for not sharing this sooner: imgur.com/a/acfYNShThat was when I took mine apart for someone on Atari Age. I used metal spudgers to deal with the clips.
