I’m playing Smash for Switch. I don’t know what I’m doing but I’m 10 hours in and I’ve unlocked 2,348 things I don’t know how to use and multiple currencies I don’t know how to spend. It’s a 3D fighter in other words. It’s dumb. Why do I keep playing? Someone send help. I’m bored with this game but I can’t put it down! Am I waiting for it to get better? What would lead me to think that? And why wait for fun anyway when I own 100 games I love from the title screen on...it’s like the Facebook of video games. Ahhh!

I am currently playing through the Sega Ages port of Phantasy Star.
I had played Zelda and Miracle Warriors prior to PS's release back in the day, but those games never provided the same sense of adventure and wonder that PS gave me. It is one of a handful of games that I can say completely transported me to another world and didn't let go until the end. It is one of those magical games that are the reason why I love this hobby so much.
But...I swore I was never going to play it again, since it was THAT much of a pain in the ass.
The grinding, the vague, obtuse directions NPCs gave you, the douchebag dungeons that completely hated you. Yeah, PS will forever be a formative game, but I could never subject myself to that torture again.
That is, until I heard M2 ported it, providing a fast forward button, auto mapping of those hellish dungeons, and 4x mesetas and experience, and was like "f, yeah, I'm in!". And so, I'm at Lassic now, and so far reliving this wonderful adventure has been nothing short of a delight. It's even been painless, since I still remember where everything is, except now all those things that were there to bury your soul have been tamed tremendously, which keeps the focus on the game's strengths.
I really wish M2 does the same thing with Phantasy Star II, but I just read the Ages series is being retired, so doubt it will happen. Nevertheless, this is the best $5.99 i've spent on the Switch eshop so far. Well, right next to the sublime, GOAT strategy game Into the Breach, but I think I paid a little bit more for that.

Wizards & Warriors X: The Fortress of Fear (GB) - I bought a backlit GBA over the summer and I am determined to beat this game... one of these years.
Just Shapes & Beats (Switch) - I just found out about this game a week go. I love it.
Horror Story (PCE) - My daughter (she's 9) and I are having lots of fun with 2-player co-op. This game is a lot of fun (lots of creative things... jumping on top of each to become DOUBLE-STACK, jumping and catching ahold of balloons to cross obstacles, hopping on enemies as an attack so you just want to see how long you can stay in the air, etc.)
Zero Wing (PCE) - I don't know why, but this seems really nice (PCE version). I enjoy this more than I should.
Hellfire S (PCE) - I played this 20 years ago, but I barely remembered anything until I repurchased it.
Jamestown: Legend of the Lost Colony (Switch) - I love this, but I got to the point where it's kicking my ass. I love replaying levels on harder difficulties to unlock new stuff. This is so polished and I love graphics/music and the visceral shooting/destruction.

Red Dead Redemption is so good! Right now I like it more than the sequel. It plays fast and loose like an old western film rather than the plodding cowboy simulator the sequel feels like to me.
I just finished Space Ava 201, which took me a few evenings to get through. Everyone should try this game!
I finished Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Xbox One last week. That was fun.
Made it to Ys Book II on the Coregrafx Mini recently and I'm trying to finish Book II before the end of the month.
My kiddo and I try to play No Man's Sky together most evenings for a little bit.
Just a couple of nights ago I realized that I hadn't finished playing through Castlevania: Curse of Darkness on the OG Xbox as Trevor Belmont so I've been picking away at that.

Mario Picross (SFC).
It’s free in SNES section for Switch Online people. I’m nearly done with the Mario side, not sure I’ll ever go through the Wario side. I like Picross.

Nice. Many good times with grandia 2 on Dreamcast. Playing through shadow of the tomb raider on my PS5. Love South American mystical stuff. It’s like playing a mature rated mysterious cities of gold episode.

Mario Odyssey (Switch): for some reason I had the wrong idea about this game. I thought it was some GTA style thing with social media integration and whatnot. In fact it is straight up a basic AAA 3D Mario, a sequel to 64, Sunshine, and the Galaxies. No internet required. It’s very good. Someone got it for me for Xmas and that’s when I finally played it. It has an extra edge of weirdness that sort of reminds me of Dreamcast era Sega at times...
Metal Slug 3 (MVS): the is a masterpiece in detail, pacing, and raw talent. Furthermore the Neo seems to run it without effort despite the on screen stuff being both lush and bonkers. I’ve owned this cart for 7-8 years probably and I’m never bored with it.
KOF 2003 (MVS): the first 2D KOF to have Capcom style tag and also the first to not be remixed the next year. You can often see clearly across the 10 16-bit KOFs where they keep the majority of the game and tool it into a sequel. 97 and 98 come to mind, very nearly the same game, and also 99 and 2000. I wonder what 2004 would have been like? And yeah I know about KOF XI, totally not the point...

After i'm done with the first grandia part two will be probably next unless i start hades afterwards it is the indie game of the year.Other then that i didn't know the first grandia ost had a release on vinyl,id buy a copy but it's rather pricey.

I've been pretty into Destiny 2 since it went free (basic) in September 2020. Between the re-release of Scott Pilgrim, KOF 2002 on PS4 and Destiny I've been online playing Playstation consoles more than I have ever in my lifetime.
