Everyone, I have a shameful confession. My Turbo Duo is still in a box after my move 4 years ago. What little playing I've done has been in an emulator, and it's even been a long time for that. Being a father has made it nearly impossible to play any of my retro stuff. But I'm excited for the TG Mini, since I can hook that up to the living room TV. And I'll get to play some of my favorite games again. Looking forward to reliving some of the classics with you folks.

I know what you mean about time. My kid is 4.75 or so and I’m behind on basically everything during about the same time period I guess. Yard work is insane. The Miata hasn’t run in a year. There are cobwebs in the basement. Models I started 5 years ago are half done still. I put my WCBN show on hiatus. I haven’t recorded music in two years.
I still play my Duo every day though. Your confession is beyond shameful, I consider it betrayal. Resign your mod powers now and go see if they’ll take you at some Sega forum.

I mean, I’d enjoy a Sega forum, but who would I talk PCE to there?

No shame to be had. Time disappears as we get older. I can definitely understand the convenience of wanting to hook up a mini system to a modern tv. However, I too once went through the emulator phase years ago and I always kept thinking, did my old games always just look meh? Well, one day I got a Turbo again and tested it out on a 27" Standard CRT and now I can't go back. Just looks so much better to me. It's a CRT with s-video or better for me now.
Everyone has their preferences and don't feel bad about wanting to play the new mini on a modern TV. Might as well sell your DUO and cash in if you think you won't be using it again.

Actually, once my son gets a little older I will be able to start playing those retro games again and hopefully incorporate him into my gaming time. He can either play his own thing or play games co-op with me.

I have been able to find little snippets of time here and there, but jumping into a deep RPG is completely out of question with the kiddos, lol
We played some Parodius last weekend for about an hour, that was pretty fun! But trying to show off Beyond Shadowgate, Ys 4, or Xanaduder seems impossible, lol...

My kid loves the Genesis Mini. Well, mainly he loves watching me do the bonus rounds in Sonic 2 while he mimes this running in place thing.
Soon I feel he’ll be really into video games. At the moment he can only really handle educational stuff on the iPad.
The first time I cleared Shenmue 2 I played the last six hours straight though in one sitting. I long for the ability to do that now although I’d for sure spend the time on something else.

We all are old and have no time! But we keep the spark alive, fueled by nostalgia. I get a few hours on Sunday that I reserve for gaming, mainly 90's shit like Turbo. Even when I goto cons and events, I only "play" when testing equipment when setting up. I do still love the chats with fellow old farts when at the shows tho.
I do not even have kids as an excuse, I just always have some project or repair that needs to be taken care of...well, of course the boozing with friends while watching movies takes a good chunk of my free time.
