The most recently purchased PCE game for me is Super Real IV. I remember being impressed by the screenshots in the magazines back in the day but didn’t play mahjong back then like I do now. Pervy but high end, recommended for Riichi Mahjong players.

I used to have GunHed in my collection for the longest time, but sold it a few years back (what was I thinking!) when I felt I had to downsize. Regretted that ever since. That mistake has now been rectified. Found a beautiful copy in Ikebukuro last week that I couldn't pass up.

I didn’t realize you could find game shops in Ikebukuro. SuperPotato have a store there, just outside of Sunshine City. Some of their prices are high as you might expect. But good deals can still be found. They actually have a good collection of PCE consoles. Lots of unboxed CoreGrafX, some Shuttles, a few boxed PCE-Duo R and RX. It warms the heart to see it.

Nice! Vol. 2 in the 'Hudson 61'. Always loved the Wonderboy series, even from way back when I first played it on the C64.

Which reminds me, It's been a while since I played Wonderboy (original) on SMS. I haven't pulled out my SMS in a couple years and I don't think my twins even remember playing it (they don't have the patience for Monster Land).

Picked up a few more games that were on my wanted list. Happy to find Time Cruise II and 1943 especially. I keep a spreadsheet in 'Numbers' on my iPhone/Mac of games I'm on the lookout for. I record the current prices based on Mercari and Yahoo Auctions listings to use as a guide when doing a retro-run through the various stores in Akiba and/or greater Tokyo. I then note down the prices of the titles on my list as I see them in the stores. It's an interesting and fun way of making sure I don't overpay needlessly as there can be significant differences between the various brick and mortar stores. And despite popular belief, it is still possible to find deals comparable to mercari/yahoo auctions in the stores, provided you are patient and savvy enough.

It's good that you are still finding complete games... the last few times I went to Tokyo (before the pandemic), the ratio of "Card only" to "Complete" was quickly starting to tilt dangerously in favour of card-only.

I know what you mean. That seems to be the case for Gameboy DMG and Famicom games. Which is really unfortunate as those have some of the nicest type of boxes in my opinion. The PC-Engine selection, while definitely smaller than from say, 5-10 years ago, is still decent.

I recently introduced a friend of mine to the Turbo by starting a game of Ys I & II with them, and it has gotten me back into the Turbo spirit. I finally started looking at getting some more games and I just picked up a copy of World Court Tennis. It was cheap and I'm a sucker for RPGs.
I really want to get a copy of Neutopia, but I'm not sure if I can afford a CIC right now. Prices have gone through the roof for everything. Even Japanese releases are expensive now!
