He'a currently working on a Sega-CD solution, so a PCE equivalent would be much easier to do afterward.

Something simple he should do would be to make a newer everdrive with arcade card support. This option would be good competition for the Super sd system 3 since the price of one of those plus a coregrafx would then be about the same price as a DUO, everdrive, and stack of CD-rs.

How many of you guys already have more flash cards than HuCARDS?
Seriously, does this shit ever stop?
How many pieces of crap did you buy between the release of the Gamepark 32 and the Pocket Analog?
Can you believe there is only one PCE? I mean, yeah, 17 different versions but they all play the same HuCARDS the same way.
When you tell people “just buy this and you’ll be set” does it ever seem weird that you then buy three more version yourself after that?
When your phone bugs you for an update...does that actually make you guys happy? It seems like you just love love love buying flash cards. I’d be really pissed off that the money I spent on the last three didn’t really...take.

I wouldn't say I "love" buying new flash carts, but the prospect of one that would handle CD games, without me having to deal with my fiddly Duo laser (I still haven't found a CD-R brand that it likes perfectly), seems awfully appealing. Bonus points if it comes in under TerraOnion's price for their product.
Also, it's the nature of technology to advance, even in the retro gaming world. FPGAs get cheaper and more powerful, enabling features that just weren't possible in earlier flash carts.

I would get another TED if the USB is an option along with CD support. It seems like a good upgrade and worth having as an alternate; keep my old ted v2 in the duo in the gaming area and the v1 in the turbob or core grafx in the office. And yeah, sometimes I do get stoked when new phone updates are pushed - bug fixes and progress are appreciated and hopefully an improvement with the update - they are not all bad

I get really angry when technology advances. I have a horse-drawn cart. I don’t need a fancy car.

I still use emulators and flash carts like a rental service. When news comes up (through a YT review or some discovery) of a new import or some rando game I missed out on, I try before I buy for the most part.
I have TED and the SNES-SD cart thingy. loads of fan translated imports and whatnot.
Sort of related, I had the Super SD-rom3 PCE/Turbo attachment for most of this year and wound up passing it on to another dude because I just wasn't using it as often. I prefer the real deal.

How many of you guys already have more flash cards than HuCARDS? Flash carts are a convenience for me. It's so much easier to bring one cart to shows instead of a stack. Plus if they get stolen, at least flash carts are still being manufactured so simple to replace. I only have one ODE and it's just to run SS Bomberman reliable since my drives have been showing signs of failure. I only have seven flash carts for different consoles and I do not see myself upgrading to a newer version of cart I already own since they all work fine.

I do have more flash carts than HuCards... because to my embarrassment, I don't yet own any HuCards. The games I want are expensive! But my current lineup is:
- SD2SNES (older model) - Mega Everdrive V2 (equivalent to X7) - EverDrive GB X3 - EverDrive N8 - Turbo EverDrive V2.5 - An ancient FlashAdvance 256M Pro GBA cart - One of those 3-in-1 expansion carts for GBA - A couple of Acekard 2s, an R4, and M3i Zero - An old Tototek Game Gear flash cart (got it for like $5!)
I have no real intention upgrading the SD2SNES; the one I have does all I need. Same with the GB X3. Upgrading the TED is tempting, for the aforementioned CD support, as is upgrading the MED V2, for the same reason. I'm waiting to see the long-term stability on the new EverDrive N8 carts, because the last release candidate firmware is less than stable on the old cart. Assuming the updates for that truly do get backported, I'll likely stick with it as well.
I agree that the convenience of a flash cart is tremendous. Also, I have a lot of games with batteries that I'm sure will be failing quite soon, so something that will be more stable over time is appreciated as well.

I get really angry when technology advances. I have a horse-drawn cart. I don’t need a fancy car. It’s funny that you’d say that because my day job is a development technician for the auto industry. I spend 40 hours a week “advancing technology” and I’ve been doing it long time and I’m vastly more cynical towards that industry than garage game doodads. However, anyone who thinks horses are better than cars in 2019 clearly hasn’t shoveled 20 lbs of shit a day for any length of time. I think it’s more about having the mentality that causes some people to classify everything as forward or backward when really both of those terms are very flexibly defined. “Progress” can mean just about anything you’d like. Same thing with “advancement”. Once something is described as “the next step” there is a certain section of society that is already predisposed to buy into that and anyone who questions the need for five different Chromcasts since the arrival of Blu-ray is a cave man. (Blu-ray still looks better, even on a 10 year old player.) Is anyone excited about this but decided to wait for the one after it? Is that kind of restraint common?

Is anyone excited about this but decided to wait for the one after it? Is that kind of restraint common? Sure it is, but people who are really into something are going to want to see what's new (assuming they can afford it). Others will likely only buy something new if their old unit is giving them problems, or the new features are compelling - like replacing an old Flash cart which has a 4 megabit limit, can only hold one game at a time, doesn't support the SuperCD RAM, and needs to be programmed via the parallel port. After all, we *are* on a message board which caters to a system which itself isn't exactly the newest technology...
