just wondering if downtown nekketsu monogatari on pc engine cd rom playable without understanding much japanese? will some aspects of the game be unplayable if some of the tasks specified in japanese? i gather there is no english translated ver on pc engine cd rom, it also seems to be an expensive cd rom game as well

It's a beat'em up...who needs a story? Can't say that I've played the game from OP, but the 4 player free for all race/beat'em up (Downtown Nekketsu Kōshinkyoku - Soreyuke Daiundōkai) is fine with moon runes. One of the joys of playing PCE is attempting to figure out the story or plot...like Fiend Hunter or Ane-san

If you ever played the nes version aka river city ransom then getting through the pce version shouldn't be much of a problem.

One of the joys of playing PCE is attempting to figure out the story or plot...like Fiend Hunter or Ane-san generally, most can be, but based on the 3ds sequel, there parts you need to do such as tasks which requires understanding of japanese, apparently facebook pc engine group says you get stuck around level 4

If you ever played the nes version aka river city ransom then getting through the pce version shouldn't be much of a problem. I have played 3ds sequel in english, but apparently according to pc engine facebook group, you will get stuck on level 4
