Hi,
After pulling my formerly working Turbo Duo out of storage after about a decade I found that the audio was extremely, both Hucard and CD. I recapped the system and it seemed to work fine, audio is nice and loud now.
However, I soon had problems with CD game audio. The audio works fine at first, but after about 3 or 4 minutes the CD soundtrack cuts out. Sometimes it comes back on the next level, but it goes away quickly again. Sometimes it seems like it can't load the next level at all. Sound effects and whatnot continue to work fine.
If I turn the system off and back on again the CD audio still won't work, and sometimes it won't boot CD games at all. However, if I let it sit for about a half an hour before I turn it back on it'll start working again for a few minutes. This happens with original CDs as well as CD-Rs.
I tested with an audio CD - it plays okay but sounds a little scratchy. If I tap the system, audio stops for a second but then picks up again, but it skips 5-10 seconds of audio. It doesn't pick up where it left off.
Do I need to adjust the pots? Or does it sound like the laser needs replacing? Thanks!

The lens might need adjustment but more than likely there are some bad traces on the motherboard due to old capacitor damage that need to be fixed.

I cleaned the board up as best as I could but there could be some damage under the chips I suppose. If the traces were bad, would it work fine at first and only start cutting out after a few minutes like mine?

Yes, the sound will work and then stop if traces or vias are shorted out. However, the same thing can happen if you're CD lens isn't calibrated correctly.
