It would really have been cool to scale down the console by about 2.5 times in every dimension, and then use the catridge slot to load SDCards....

in my opinion, considering tg16 had a cult following in US and Europe and that pc engine in japan was very popular and more importantly some of the rare games and the extremely rare prototypes have never been played by many, konami should try to obtain the rights, such as Dinoforce, marble madness, space fantasy zone and PC cocoron

Yeah, I don’t see Konami doing that. At all. This IS Konami, after all.

The possibilities are so exciting. They could include exclusive English versions of Konami games like Snatcher, Dracula X or Tokimeki Memorial? I’m predicting the big seller Tengai Makyou II will be included in the Japanese version.

But the rom is likely only in the hands of horders. The programmer of 3 or 4 PCE ports of Taito games was trying to sell them a few years ago and Taito gave Sega a license for a new Darius port to put on their mini. So that's likely the closest they'll get to including any unreleased games.

So, I know I’ve been kinda skeptical about just how much extra effort and quality Konami is going to put into this. Konami is no Nintendo or M2. That said, PC Engine emulation is largely settled as a quality challenge, and as long as the price is reasonable I will totally be picking up AT LEAST the US edition. It would take some real missteps from Konami, like too few titles, really poor title selection, or stupid pricing, to really turn me off to this. Mostly I am just anticipating being frustrated at missed opportunities.

There's only 2 things on that list I'm scratching my head over: - Bikkuriman World - the fact that FEoE: Ziria is higher on the list that FEoE II: Manji Maru

It was cool of him to have made an youtube video demonstrating Marble Madness and Pack Rat and he had no obligation to do so, under his name even.

That's cool that he has since come forward after beaglepuss showed up on pcefx and swore to take MM to his grave. Was Dino Force really being auctioned by the developer? I thought that the person who posted emulated screenshots of PC Cocoron had remained anomymous. Have they since gone public? If Konami actually has access to it, it would be cool if they included the version of Sapphire that thibault is sitting on (SYN?). The original characters/theme complimented the game much more than generic anime girls.

I believe it could be outsourced to porting experts M2, konami has used them many times, as recent as castlevania and contra annversiary collection released 2 months ago, if this hunch is true, expect literally perfect emulation of pc engine games, they have also done psp ports of salamander and pardious, also sega 3d classic collection, with an impressive 'what if' the original fantasy zone 2 was using the 16 bit based remake using actual system 16 specs instead of the 8 bit arcade board, really awesome game, if the case m2 is creating pc engine mini, it will be a strange sister/brother of megadrive mini which is also made by them

That would be nice and all but also not necessary. You don’t need a “porting expert” to drop a ROM into an emulator. All you need is a quality emulator and those are pretty much a done deal for PCE since it’s simple, well documented, and super low powered.
Will the video be bad for no reason? Will the controllers all make a clunking sound when you push left? Will it have some sort of pointless copy protection that ruins some part of the experience? Those kinds of things are really the only things I’m concerned about because the rest can be done to near perfection by a even a teenage hobbyist now. Anyone who can mod their Wii and fill it with PCE ROMs is basically doing the same thing except for the Retro VCS-esque “collectible shells”. It’s not even a matter of getting it right, doing something stupidly cheap or wrong is the only way this thing won’t be terrific.

I don't think it's as simple as that, we will probably offer in depth interview on the megadrive mini once it's released, and assuming they are handling pc engine mini, maybe there will be an interview, anyway, he is an article what they do, not really that simple, but the main aspect, they exceeded expectations of the developer who commissioned them to the porting job shmupemall.com/interviews/interview-naoki-horii-m2-ceo-18616.html
