Has anyone ever heard of the GP2000 Super Twin? It's a bootleg Chinese PC Engine system. I can't seem to find any info about it on the interwebs. Attachments:

Got pictures ?
The only Super Twin that I ever heard of was a game copying device (ST-1000 I think), and it was from Taiwan of Hong Kong. I owned one once, but I sent it Chris Covell a few months ago.

I knew there were cloned PCE in Taiwan back in the early 90's. I was staying for 2 months in Taiwan in 1990 and there were ads of cloned PCE, Master System and Famicom on TV all days.
This Super Twin, however, from the simplified Chinese used in its name and the "warranty" card (it's actually written "Quality Assurance Card"), suggested it's from Mainland China and I guessed it's from a more recent year as I doubt the mainland would make such things back in early 90's. But the "16-bit graphics" text on the bottom-right corner of the box was in traditional Chinese, so it's probably a mainland produced unit sold to the Hong Kong market here.

This reminds me of the "PC Boy" (which looked like a PC Engine Shuttle, but weirdly distorted to be larger).
I agree that the mainland wouldn't be making these in the early '90s - but Taiwan would (and they also use traditional characters). Also, Hong Kong completely lost interst in the PC Engine around 1993-4 when the SFC took off.
If you can get a close-up of the warranty card's address, we can see more clearly.

Also, Hong Kong completely lost interst in the PC Engine around 1993-4 when the SFC took off. Unfortunately, yes, but PCE stuff were usually cheap and there were people like me who never got a SFC (or a MD, which was pretty much ignored after the release of Mega CD, or any other consoles thereafter) and would still buy stuff for it. However, this is not the point. Back in its hey day people here actually didn't use pirated cloned PCE units (and that there weren't many imported from Taiwan anyway). By "recent year" in my last post I actually meant very recent years, which was after the turn of the millennium, when it was flooded with cheap clones of old consoles (mostly NOAC Famiclones, but there were indeed MD, PCE and even SFC clones), which were popular in mainland China and in the secondary market of Hong Kong for people who couldn't afford "cutting-edge" systems like PreyStation and the like. From the blurry low res photo I think the name of the company started with Jiangsu, so yeah, mainland China.

Yeah, I'd believe it if it was made after 2000. Mainland China manufacture would fit, although I would imagine it would've been primarily targetting doemstic sales like the iQue tried. I don't really see the point of targetting HK for sales until well after 2005 (when nostalgia would be a trigger). Unless they had an "every game card" to go along with it.

Oh yeah, duck piss street. I remember going there and some old men sitting out with their old, used things on towels... it always amazed me. ...But that was a long time ago.

I love the fact that they cloned the SuperGrafx case... now that's a mould that I'd like to see resurface (never mind Jaguar, etc.) I have one Taiwanese game magazine from back in the early '90s. There are scans here, if you're interested: www.chrismcovell.com/secret/OTH_1991Q4.html

Can you please check, if you can use those fat modules on the top slot of it? If so, it is definitely one of the Dar Yar Electronics (大雅電子股份有限公司) products and shares the same cart system as the Power Play Galaxy/Super Engine 1 (shuttle clones) and Super Engine 2 (Malaysian and Czech market variation). They produced in Taipei and as it seems also in Shanghai with small variations and using the 上游邦电子有限公 name.

Ah cool, I have a small number of issues of that mag too. I've only got one or two scanned though (but none posted) - I should get them all done. Dave

I wish I owned this, but it's just a 'show off' picture on a very obscure Chinese site.

Found out more about it and if I am lucky, will soon have one in the post. To my surprise they were made in mainland China by Jiangsu Kailun Toys Development Co Ltd in Danyang City and not like most other pce clones by Dar Yar in Taipei, Taiwan.
