Greeting PCE fans, Simple question, what's a PCE game you like, but people seldom talk about it? I would use the term "hidden gem" but dumb YouTubers have ruined the word. I'll go first. I like Spin Pair. I think it's a fun and challenging little puzzle game. It's also still inexpensive, and people never seem to talk about it. The music is just happy times too.

I've always meant to check out Spin Pair, I'm a big fan of puzzle games. For me, I think Cyber Core is under appreciated. It's a zippy little shooter, decent mechanics, fluid controls, and the graphics aren't too bad either. Even has a neat opening cinema explaining the plot. I feel like it gets less attention because the PC Engine is home to some amazing shooters, but if you compare this to something like Dragon Spirit, it's clearly a very good game. One of the better shooters, and cheap. Then there's also Puzznic, but I'll let someone else have a word now.

I think Cyber Core is over-appreciated My under-appreciated game of choice is Splash Lake. It gets no special attention despite being fantastically fun to play, replete with secrets (2/3 of the levels in the game are secret!), loaded with good sound effects, and well animated.

It's hard for me to empathize with a new Johnny-turbo-come-lately gamer finding out about "under the radar" games b/c I'm so entrenched in the obey life for so long, there kinda isn't anything hidden. But, I've had fun with Be-ball/Chew-Man-Fu and Power Golf 2, and both seem to not get mentioned much. I would say Pomping/Buster Bros is another, but I think most ppl know about that one.

Zipang. I think the cover throws a lot of people off. It is a fantastic and fun puzzle game. Like majors mentioned though I'm sure most regular to the pc-engine know of Zipang. I don't typically hear it being talked about though.

Lady Phantom. It was the first SCD game and is a joy to play. You control a team of anime babes in transforming mech suits in a turn-based strategy game set in space and on land. The soundtrack is rockin' and has great bass, the graphics and cut scenes are well done, and the language barrier is minimal.
This was the first JP game I ever beat.

I would say Pomping/Buster Bros is another, but I think most ppl know about that one. Pomping world is awesome Lady Phantom. It was the first SCD game and is a joy to play. Do you need to understand much to get into it? I like stuff like Nectaris, but the language barrier makes me shy away

Took me just a few minutes of trial and error to figure most of it out. I had a thread on PCEFX that went over most of the controls but I think NW deleted it. Each turn you can choose to move or attack, and each unit has two types of attack (you customize guns before the level starts). On space levels you also get to choose when you transform from spaceship to robot. There's a bit more to it but it has been so long that I forget. Kind of a crappy video, but it seems to capture someone learning to play by trial and error. Lol youtu.be/T2Lvbmaml5A

Heh, Military Madness was pretty dope. I want to play Neo Nectaris, but I've been too lazy to see how bad the language barrier is. Same story with Vasteel II... I even have the mouse but have been too lazy to try it.

This will never not be fun to play. It's too bad that the PCE version is Japanese only but the text boxes and layout are a 1:1 to the SNES/Gen US versions so it shouldn't be hard to play if you know the game... and it also should be easy to translate it.

I like how it appears like a super relaxed game if you're watching someone play it due to the soundtrack, but its the most stressful thing ever when YOU are playing it. Quite the contrast. New York and Antarctic are my favorite bgms.

I never played that one(That's part 3 correct?)but I played many hours of Romance of the Three Kingdoms II on amiga and loved that game. That's a remake of the original "All-Japan" edition (PC, NES) that simply came in the US as Nobunaga's Ambition for Gen, SNES, Amiga. Nobunaga's Ambition II was PC only and III would be "Lord of Darkness", right? (that one I didn't play)
