Not sure if it's the right place, but just wondering if anyone's done one of these. I got it working fine, except for the PS1 region compatability. When I try and load up Gunners Heaven (NTSCJ) the screen goes red and it says insert PS2 disc or something.
From what I've read, there's only one point on the chip that affects this, SX. And I've soldered and resoldered using a thicker guage wire, I ended up accidentally taking off the component it attaches to, then resoldering that on. I don't know if there's much else I can do. Any ideas?

I've got a modbo modded PAL PS2 SCPH-9x, which runs PS2 and PS1 games from all regions as well as CD-R and DVD-R just fine. Though I haven't tried games yet that come on two or more discs.
There are only two issues with PS1 games so far I encountered: 1. Some NTSC games need to have the user hold a specific button at system boot to start correctly.* 2. For NTSC games in general, the screen appears vertically squished and shifted until the first FMV sequence is loaded - every game I own has such an FMV (e.g. Konami logo animation, Tekken 3 intro animation, etc.) before the title screen. So I just had to make sure the animation was loaded once to let the screen correct itself, and then I could press a button to go to the title screen.
*There are guides for the Matrix Infinity boot menu and its options that affect how the modchip is interacting with the console.
