I have several more PC Engine games up.
Emerald Dragon was OK but a bit repetitive with a high encounter rate.
Star Breaker seemed like another cookie cutter RPG.
Legend of Xanadu is interesting, but much longer than I expected. I'm on the last dungeon, which is a 31 floor behemoth that makes Darm Tower look easy. Also the first weapon you get has a power of 12, and the strongest sword is 598,000.

I definitely preferred your earlier reviews, when you focused mostly on the story's initial setup and then the game-play, with the points of frustration that you found, rather than the more recent reviews where you (IMHO) give the CliffsNotes version of the story (with screenshots), and kinda ruin the point of playing the game itself. As you head into the 1994-and-onwards games, I do hope that you'll spend more time on the game-play, and things that you like or dislike about the games, and post less spoilers about how the story of each game unfolds. From what I'm seeing in your recent reviews, you're still focusing just as much on dumping out complete story spoilers as any comments on the actual gameplay experience itself. I find that particularly sad as you begin to prepare your review of Legend of Xanadu, especially with the full English translation waiting in the wings so that players will be able to enjoy the story themselves. I'm not going to waste my time by asking you (again) to consider your approach to reviewing, since we obviously don't agree on this subject. What I will do, is to point out the excellent old reviews by The Brothers Duomazov, which IMHO show just how to review a game well without entirely ruining the story for players ... I am actually not going to spoil the Xanadu story for that reason.
No matter what I at least want to give some indication of how the story begins. But I don't really consider my blog posts to be reviews, they're just my thoughts on playing the game, which may include the story.
