Hello! I'm here to learn more about these wonderful systems as i regretfully never gave it a chance as a kid. I did just get a pc engine coregrafx and have a Duo system on the way soon. I'm also here to see what new games if any are going to be released.

I never knew this forum existed until yesterday... but i've been playing PC Engine since about 1989 and got my first one in the early 90s, its one system that i've never sold off since originally owning. I used to be a member on the PCEngineFX forums under the same name, and am active on what seems like alot of PCE FB groups and I created the www.pc-engine.co.uk site to try and catalog all of the hardware variants that exist out there... along with a few other lists that i've added along the way. So if there is any hardware thats missing, please let me know. I do still have to add the TV cable that Alessandro beat me to on Yahoo a year or so ago.

Hello all. Didn't learn about the TG16 until I was in college in the late 00's, didn't see my first one until the early 10's, didn't own my first one until 2018ish, but from the day I first learned of it I have been both fascinated with it and amazed I never heard about it as a kid. It was difficult for me to collect for it with its high price tag's until the last couple of years, and I am still enjoying learning more and more about the console and slowly purchasing games and accessories. I went big when I started with the console, the CD add-on, and 6 games with my very next purchase being Y's Book 1 & 2 and regret nothing.

Hi everyone! kiketonto here from Spain. Love TG, and PCEngine of course, since the nineties when I try a TG16 with a bunch of games. My favourite system of all times!

Hello. I have known about the PC Engine since the year 2000 when my childhood friend told me about the TurboExpress. He told me it was the worlds most powerful handheld console. I was intrigued by the idea, but soon forgot about it when the Gameboy advance came around. In the following years i became disenchanted with the modern generation of gaming and started seeking out games from the past. I got into 16 and 32 bit era systems and fast forward to 2019 i got my first TurboGrafx from a customer at the record store where i used to work. It quickly became one of my favorite consoles as i love shooters. I had mostly ignored the HE System family of consoles until i stumbled upon 1943 Kai on youtube and it made me want the system. Weeks later the Turbo fell into my lap! I’m 25 years old now and i absolutely enjoy all things PC Engine and TurboGrafx-16. As a child, the first system i ever played was the Sega Saturn. So I have a soft spot for the underdog in the console race.

Hello, I'm new. Holy crap I haven't been on a message board since like 2005. I owned a TG16 sometime in the late 00s, sold it because man cannot live on Keith courage alone (by that I mean I was a broke college grad and had bills). I learned about it because I had bonk on Gameboy as a kid, and I heard it had bonk games. I'm a sucker for less popular systems, or systems and that never came over here, even tho I can't read a single character of Japanese. I'm apparently especially fond of systems that have a ton of arcade games, which I didnt grow up playing (fighting, racing, shooters, etc), and don't particularly care for, and trying those but looking for other games on them. I currently have packed away a pce+ssds3+scart cable which for some reason works fine anywhere except for with me, I might still have a duo with everdrive somewhere, a pcfx, and a smattering of games for both. Now I'm a parent and I found you guys on a late night internet bender.

Now I'm a parent and I found you guys on a late night internet bender. Glad the spark is still alive for Turbo! My late night benders usually end up on some random ancient-aliens-type youtube silliness... There is another forum for PCEFX fans, from the ashes of the old forum (if you feel the need for more old man forums). I forget if there is any beef between this and the other, I usually stay out of drama. I get that here is more focused on technical obey stuffs and the other is more random banter. Welcome!

Hello, I am new to the forum and new to PCE. I discovered the console very late with emulators. It's a great console. I'm a former game developer, I made games on a bunch of consoles and computers. But now it's time for me to get serious and feel the power of the PCE. I have started playing with pceas and will probably have a lot of questions soon.

Welcome alg. Glad you're interested in development on our Little Engine that Could. There are some folks who pop in here (and frequent elsewhere as well) who are working on various projects who'd probably be more than happy to share their experiences with you.

Hello everyone, I've been a fan of PCE/Turbografx 16 since around 2016 when I got a north American Turbografx shortly after finishing high school.

Howdy, my TG16 story was that growing up I never had a TG16 of my own but played my older brother's when I visited him and fell in love. But alas I was a kid with no money so never got my own. That is, until adulthood and back about 10 or so years ago when I bought a TG16 lot with a few games on eBay. I played a bunch, which is a blur now, until life got extremely busy so it got packed away in a container somewhere in my house. Fast forward to couple of years ago when I started getting back into retro games to pick up all the stuff I missed out on, that I just never had as a kid, or was stolen. Here lately I've been trying to decide on which PCE CD system to get or to go with a SSD3+PCE combo. I registered and wanted to join the site to get more insight on the PCE/TG16 scene besides just random YT videos and eBay.
Right now I'm trying to figure out if getting a Duo-R is worth it and if they are expected to still have good capacitors, if I should get a cheap Duo and dust off my soldering skills, just get a pre-modded DUO & hope for the best, or just bite the bullet and get a PCE+SSD3. I don't need "every" game to justify an SSD3 and still prefer collecting at least a smaller curated set of shmups, rpgs, and action/adventure games but geez some of the prices for the CD games are crazy where just a couple of the ones I want could pay for an SSD3. At the same time, I'm sure I can do a recap and laser replacement if necessary and with the right datasheets and parts supplier but time to do that type of stuff just isn't a luxury I have anymore.
