I can respect that. You guys are making the game, so you see that stuff first-hand.

Gredler and I decided that we needed something other than a boss-rush style game. When we debated about what format would be best, we decided that a Beat'em Up would be something that fit with the character designs, allowed us to insert more mice into the game, and most importantly, was something I felt confident I could tackle.
I think the results look pretty good so far!

Thanks! I only have a couple frames done for the boxer, and maybe 5 for the beefcake mouse, but I handed rough placeholders for the rest off to DK. I am excited to flesh them out and finish the animations for these, and make the rest of the mice characters.

Nice. I like that there’s multiple planes of movement. Can’t think of many pce titles that did that off the top of my head. A nice touch.

Looks fantastic.
Not sure about the double dragon, beat-em up mechanics though. From my experience cats have always been ambushers;p
Maybe put that into account?

Youtube can provide hours of footage of small cats taking out mice, other cats, dogs, people, cobras, etc in full on fights. The snake fights in particular can be super impressive. I hope this game has a snake boss. It’s looking great.

It has hills, but they are far in the distance. Yours has hills too; don't let anyone tell you otherwise! I've seen them with mine own eyes.

Did you base any of the buildings in the game on real homes?
I kinda imagine this game taking place in the backyards, between the fences when the humans are always at work or something.

No there is no specific point of reference that the building is looking to replicate. It is supposed to be the exterior of a house in which other levels are played, so there are some shared elements between the interior and exterior of the house.
For the exterior I wanted it to read as a house only seeing a small corner of it, as when I initially made the tileset we were only going to see a bit of the house, so I used the wood slat style with brick foundation to give it a quickly readable house vibe. I want to add more details to it but we are so limited on ROM space I will need to remove variety from the grass and fence to make tile space for other details.
