Guys, I'm starting this brainstorming thread about how to help folks find this forum and begin learning more about the PC Engine.
One of my ideas fall squarely on my head. I am one of the mods and a periodic content author over at Racketboy, and we are looking at revising some of our PC Engine content articles. Whatever retooling comes, I will probably begin referencing the PC Engine Bible more (and BT's wonderful site), and make sure to reference this site as a premier fan community at the end of the article. This isn't to say that I would be trying to direct all of RB's PC Engine users here, but that I want folks to be aware that an open and friendly community exists where folks can come and learn more about the system and the other folks who love it. There's also been a lot of movement in our home-dev community since it was last updated, so there's lot of great new info needs to go into it.
I'm also wondering if should consider an articles section on the PC Engine Bible itself, as a space for knowledgeable (and opinionated) forum users to share their knowledge in a polished, organized way. So if someone wanted to write about the history of a game series on the PC Engine, they could start a thread and get some help researching from other members, and they could then write the article as the author and cite the forum community's research help and link back to the forum.
Please share any ideas of your own how our community can begin to develop organized content and attract new enthusiasts.

From what I've seen of the reddit sections, there are a lot of people thirsty for knowledge but not finding much in the way of solid info.

Then that means I need to sort out my crap and get writing the expanded follow-up to the RB 101 guide. I will also need periodic technical guidance to make sure I'm not mis-representing the system or what that technical information means. I'm pretty good with that stuff, but an extra set of eyes on things never hurts.

Is there going to be a Turbo presence again at Midwest Gaming Classic next year? If so, talk some members into printing up some signs/fliers. "Wanna know more about Turbo shit? Join the community!"

Because so many of us have been around for so long it can be easy to take for granted the knowledge a lot of new owners just don't have. Articles and guides would be a great idea, from hardware to game series or something like 'A history of Telenet games on the PC Engine' covering a company at a time and how their releases developed/improved over time. A solid, easy to follow guide on 'which machine plays what' could also be handy for newcomers, with all the system card confusion.
If enough people want to write little (or large) essays on whatever they feel is useful then we could make a specific part of the forum for these articles, as well as adding them to the main website as a backup.

Pretty good idea. We already put up a PCE Bible logo on our TurboFest banner anyway! There will always (ALWAYS!) be a Turbografx/PC-FX presence at the Midwest Gaming Classic. That's sorta how our little band of brothers started at the show with TurboFest years ago.
I really like your ideas, Spenoza. On top of developer histories some technical details are always a fun read when presented thoughtfully and logically. According to guys like Chris Covell the system had some unused tricks that could really use more documentation.

Kids do not do forums...that's for old farts like us. Most Johnny-turbo-come-latelys are happy with mis-information found on social media along with posting pics of their gets(shelf porn).
I know I do my part with spreading the one true obey. Any con I can bring consoles to, I always have 3-4 Turbos in tow. In fact, I'll have some up and running at AVGC this wknd. Esteban and Ninja Spirit will also be there to help prophetize the good word.

You'd be surprised. I joined PCEFX when I was 13 and in middle school (currently 20 a junior in college). But of course Snapchat and Instagram (Insta) weren't big or a thing either. Geeky guys my age will browse and post on Reddit or 4chan (yes it's almost mainstream now). Some people consider these to be social media but they are a little more like forums. Facebook is mostly for old farts though a lot of people use Facebook Messenger. Gotta say though I'm liking the chat rooms (Duophile, Discord). Didn't use them when I joined years ago but my social skills, knowledge of older games, and wit have vastly improved. A lot more instantaneous and "raw in the moment" banter.

We have a few teenagers (12 to 15) join the C64 forum, one or two are even interested in learning assembly programming.I would agree that majority are not interested in retro console forums but you do get a few here and there sometimes.

Gotta say though I'm liking the chat rooms (Duophile, Discord). Yes, chats is the crack. IRC was so good I failed a few classes in college ('93-'94) for sure. Punky got me hooked again on PCFX chat(maybe in 2011?) and I've followed it to discord. I'm not in front of a computer as much, so I'm not there as much, but it's still good fun when I can. It helps when I've met most of these fools at events, puts a face to a handle. Instead of trying to push an obey agenda, just let things happen organically...like in Mean Girls, "stop trying to make fetch happen". Plus more passengers on the USS Turbo means collectards driving up demand for the r@rez.

Demand and prices are already up. It's not like if they go up more they'll be even MORE out of reach for the average mid-level collector. I guess I'm just not a fan of the view that it's better if we're some exclusive club. I don't want us doing like member drives or anything, but I would like our community to be publicly visible and sharing information for those who want it. Sure, let the people come to us, but we at least need to make sure we can be found.

You don't think that would be a little pandering?
