Hey all,
First post! Looks like I'll be uploading the repair tutorials I put up on the other website here!
I made some changes last year to the laser swap guide and added photos of the inside of the R and RX, and included the extra info that was relevant to to those two versions of the Duo. (the missing trim pot, reduced need for recap due to quality caps, etc.) Also, a new source for the lasers, and updated links...
The only holdup is photobucket, who have held my images hostage; So I downloaded the ones that were still relevant and not redundant, (I cant link to them at all anymore), and can barely access my account which is on "limited lockdown" and will be rebuilding it here
If anyone sees anything that is obviously missing from them, please chime in and I will make sure to include the information as I'm updating the threads.
Also, I can post an updated version of the CDROM2 guide that BlackandBlue put up, recreate a few of the others from scratch by the members that have been MIA for years (Override?), and include the capacitor charts...BMW you created a few of them, do you still have those? Can you send them over? I have them in an email you sent me like 6 years ago, if not it's cool. I'll just have to dig for an hour or so on my server to find it. You and the others will of course be credited as progenitors for the documents.
..and the few other tutorials that people keep referencing and emailing me for help with occasionally; Express battery tray connectors, AC adapter repair/creation, White PCE RGB mod, etc. (I've sent out probably 10 power supplies in the last year even though I've been MIA). Hopefully folks will also jump in and add their tutorials as well (Steve, turbokon, Duo-R and all the other fixers). If ppl aren't around around anymore, I'll gladly recreate them with my own photos and credit the OP. I've documented almost every repair I've done.
Wanted to get this convo going here because the public will be able to access it; I tried to post a link to my tutorial for some friends repairing a Duo-R in Finland, and they didn't want to create an account just to see them... I ended up having to email screenshots so they could get the system back on the road. They did.
**Also, sunteam_paul & spenoza , I run a web-hosting company with servers located in an underground bunker in Texas, as a branch of my web design business (LLC since 2007). So if bandwith ever becomes an issue here on Proboards, lets talk. We could host you at our cost, which is far below Godaddy, etc. in pricepoint. I have a dedicated website with all the infos so you can see what we're all about if you're interested, I just have to talk to my tech lawyer (on retainer) to find out if there is an issue (we currently have no British clients) and my business partner has already agreed to it. We currently host 30+ websites between our two companies. Let me know if I can be of service. I would have emailed you privately re: this but I cant find your contact info here. If you'd like, I can delete this "shameless self-promotion" paragraph down the line: not sure if this counts as spam**
May the repairs begin! (cue 90's Redbook Soundtrack)
